The Impact Committee aims to cultivate relationships with the local Philadelphia community through various service-based initiatives. Students in this committee have the opportunity to experience and lead efforts that drive positive outcomes in healthcare management on a highly personal and community-driven scale. The goal of our committee is to leverage our privilege as students to proactively engage with Philadelphia residents to help combat the health-related systemic issues that they are currently facing.

One of our flagship initiatives is the annual Healthcare Scholars Program, an 8-week course that educates Philadelphia high school students about different sectors of the healthcare field. Another key initiative is our Access-to-Care Clinics, organized in collaboration with the University City Hospital Coalition, where members provide health literacy services, insurance assistance, food aid, mental health support, and more. Finally, we host healthcare hackathons, donation drives, fundraisers, and other projects throughout the year to further our mission.

Healthcare Scholars Program

The WUHC Healthcare Scholars Program is a selective program that seeks to cultivate interest in the healthcare field among a passionate cohort of high school students. Students learn about the various elements of the healthcare system, from the role of providers to the dilemmas faced by policymakers. Students will also learn how to read and think critically about scholarly scientific literature.
